NOTICE OF JOB OPENING

VILLAGE OF STRONGHURST, ILLINOIS

 

The Village of Stronghurst is seeking a Public Works Laborer/Water Superintendent Trainee.

 

This position is full time, and would work and train under the supervision of the Village Water Superintendent. Candidates should be willing to obtain licensure to maintain and operate the sewer and water plant, and accept promotion to position of Water Superintendent in the future.

 

Duties and training will include, but not limited to:

- Handle samples, testing, reports and maintain records per IEPA regulations
- Maintain supplies and testing equipment
- Ensure operation and maintenance of all septic tanks, lift stations, distribution system, water main, hydrants, valves, meter pits, water tower
- Monitor and control amount of water pumped and application of chemicals
- Maintain streets, alleys, ditches, park, and all village property
- Attend monthly village board meetings to give report

 

Regular work hours are Mon-Fri 6:30am-3:00pm and every other weekend for 1 hour overtime to conduct water testing. Potential for other overtime, as needed.

 

Benefits include paid holidays, 3% IRA match, and optional AFLAC supplemental insurance (premium paid by employee). Salary commensurate with experience, with annual reviews.
